(Mark Rothko) returns to Virginia Stage Company where he was last seen as Otto Frank in The Diary of Anne Frank also directed by Chris Hanna. Broadway: To Be Or Not To Be, The Lion King, Social Security , 1st Nat'l Tour of The Drowsy Chaperone. Off-Broadway: Public Theater (The Normal Heart, A Dybbuk, Two Gentlemen of Verona, Richard II), Playwrights' Horizons (The Wax, When She Danced, The Terrorists, Say Goodnight Gracie) , Manhattan Theater Club (The Lisbon Traviata), Second Stage (Winterplay). Regionally, he has played major roles for the Dallas Theater Center, Geffen Playhouse, Goodman Theater, La Jolla Playhouse, Long Wharf Theater, Mark Taper Forum, Pittsburgh Public, South Coast Repertory, Wilma Theater. More recent stage credits include Shylock in The Merchant of Venice directed by Joe Dowling for Minneapolis' Guthrie Theatre, Claudius in Hamlet directed by Brian Kulick for New York's Classic Stage Company, Queen Elizabeth/Hitler/Reagan/Nixon in the world premiere of Sarah Ruhl's Passion Play directed by Molly Smith for Washington, DC's Arena Stage, the world premiere of Theresa Rebeck's Mauritius directed by Rebecca Taichman for Boston's Huntington Theater, and David Sedaris' The Santaland Diaries directed by Irene Lewis for Baltimore's Center Stage where he has been a longtime associate artist. New York theatre credits include The Tempest (Porpentine Theatre Co.), The Nosemaker’s Apprentice (The Brick), Edgewise (Cherry Lane Studio), and Wedding Pictures (EST Marathon) in addition to numerous readings and workshops at the Public, Lark, New Georges, Primary Stages, and Youngblood. Regional credits include Hamlet, Our Town, and Romeo & Juliet (Pioneer Theatre Co.); The History Boys (St. Louis Rep); The Miracle Worker (Syracuse Stage); Mary’s Wedding, The Secret Room, and Last Train to Nibroc (The Kitchen Theatre); and All’s Well That Ends Well, Mistakes Madeline Made, and The Ladies of the Camellias (Yale Repertory Theatre). Internationally, he has performed in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in The Jammer (Fringe First). He holds a BA and MFA from Yale University. |
