BRYAN AUSTIN (Young Scrooge, Peter Cratchit, Undertaker) is thrilled to be a part of the 2011-2012 VSC Emerging Artist Ensemble. He recently received his BA in Acting from Christopher Newport University. Credits at CNU include Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors, Oscar in Sweet Charity and Antonio in The Tempest: Deconstructed. Regional credits include Borachio in Much Ado About Nothing, and Oliver in As You Like It with Virginia Shakespeare Festival; Grumio/Biondello/Vincentio in Taming of the Shrew (National Endowment for the Arts Touring Ensemble) and Orlando in As You Like It with Kentucky Shakespeare. Bryan would like to thank his parents for their endless support, and for taking him to see A Christmas Carol at VSC all those years ago.

JON BREMNER (Man 2, Musician) is excited to be working on such an exciting re-envisioned A Christmas Carol. Jon most recently completed training at Double Edge Theater, MA with Rena Mirecka and the company ensemble in physical theater. Also a former student from ODU, he is proud to be performing with friends and colleagues in addition to making new friends while busking the night away.

SAM COOPER (Man 3, Street Caroler) is a senior in Old Dominion University’s Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting program. Recent stage appearances include Wit (Resident/Student/Crash Team) at the Workhouse Arts Center, and Eurydice (Narrator), The Comfort Team workshop (Stage Direction), Together Again for the First Time (Carey), Little Shop of Horrors (Wino/Customer/Radio Announcer), and Frankenstein (Judge/Ensemble), all at Old Dominion University. After graduating he hopes to pursue a Master of Fine Arts degree in Playwriting. This is his debut performance at VSC.

Katie Fridsma (Woman 1, Street Caroler) originally from Orlando, Florida, holds a B.S. in Musical Theatre and graduated with her MFA in Acting from Regent University in 2010. She is currently playing the role of Portia in Virginia Stage Company’s touring production of Julius Caesar. On Broadway, David was seen in A Free Man of Color at Lincoln Center; other New York credits included The Merchant of Venice with Dramatic Interests and Richard III and King Lear with New York Classical Theatre. CAITLIN MCWETHY (Mrs. Dilber, Belle, Belinda Cratchit, Parlormaid) A native of Virginia Beach, Caitlin is proud to be performing with VSC. Her professional credits include two seasons with Georgia Shakespeare where her roles included Miranda in The Tempest, Juliet in Romeo & Juliet, Poppy in Noises Off and Charmian in Antony & Cleopatra. Other credits include work with the Manhattan Theatre Club, American Shakespeare Center, and the 9th Avenue Theatre Project, She holds a BA from Drew University. PETER MOORE (Ebenezer Scrooge) returns to Virginia Stage for his seventh season as Scrooge; audiences may also remember him as Billy Bones and Capt. Smollet in Treasure Island. He lives in Minneapolis, where he is a frequent performer and director at the Guthrie Theater. Other Twin Cities credits include the Jungle Theater, Mixed Blood, Park Square, History Theatre, Illusion Theatre, and Chanhassen. He has performed Off-Broadway in NY as well as with Detroit's Meadow Brook Theatre, Florida Stage, the Utah Shakespeare Festival, Riverside Theatre in Vero Beach and the Heritage Rep in Charlottesville. Feature films include Factotum, The Cure, Overnight Delivery, Trauma, The ABC Afterschool Special, Rose Red, the forthcoming Thin Ice and numerous television commercials.

ANDY PATERSON (Bob Cratchit, Mr. Belle, Scrooge Understudy) finds himself in a very happy place working with this company for the fourth time. He has worked with many companies across the country and in New York City (performing in over half of Shakespeare’s plays, most recently in Pig Iron’s Twelfth Night) including the New York Classical Theatre, Aquila, La MaMa ETC, The Acting Company, Arizona Theatre Company, Center Stage (Baltimore), Florida Studio Theatre, Geva Theatre Center, Great Lakes Theater Festival, Indiana Repertory Theatre, Intiman, McCarter Theatre Center, Montana Shakespeare in the Parks, North Shore Music Theatre, Paper Mill Playhouse, PCPA Theaterfest, Pioneer Theatre Company, Portland Center Stage, San Francisco Mime Troupe, Shakespeare Theatre of NJ, Utah Shakespearean Festival, Virginia Stage and Yale Repertory Theatre. NANCY POPE (Mrs. Cratchit, School Teacher) is pleased to be performing with VSC. Ms. Pope is most often seen in the chorus of the Virginia Opera where she has performed in over 40 operas. She is a graduate of Old Dominion University where she studied theater and voice but graduated with a degree in geography/political science. She has performed the role of Sandy in Grease, and Ruby in Dames at Sea and has done small television roles. She resides in Norfolk with her husband, Tim, and enjoys surfing in the summer with Tim and her two sons.

KENNETH J. RAY (Christmas Future, Fred, Dick Williams) is a proud alumni of Howard University and member of the Emerging Artist Ensemble. He was most recently seen in the Cannes Film Festival Short Finding Juliet and Your Blues Ain't Like Mine at African Continuum Theatre. Other credits include:the workshop of Run Home (Active Cultures), Zoraesque starring Lynn Whitfield, Game Over (Source Theater Festival) and Harlem (Lincoln Theatre). In 2007 his performance in Howard University's Day of Absence earned him an Irene Ryan Acting Fellowship Nomination and a special commendation from the Kennedy Center.

CHRIS VAN CLEAVE (Topper, Jacob Marley) returns for his second year in A Christmas Carol. He starred in national tours of Hair and Jesus Christ Superstar and played leading roles in London West End productions of Les Miserables and Chess. He has been featured in numerous American regional productions and earned an MFA from the University of Virginia. Chris can be seen in Discovery Channel's series A Haunting, TMC's Untold Stories of the Navy Seals, and as Charles Lindbergh in a National Geographic television docu-drama. He recently portrayed Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd for the Signature Theatre. Chris is also a singer/songwriter and playwright - full details at www.vancleavemusic.com. He first appeared at the Wells Theatre in 1982 performing in his co-written rock gospel musical The Davidson Affair.

EVETTE MARIE WHITE (Charwoman, Charity Woman, Mrs. Kidgerbury) is elated to return to VSC for the second year as part of the Emerging Artist Ensemble. A native of Chesapeake, VA and a graduate of The Governor's School for the Arts, she received her BFA in musical theater from Howard University in Washington, DC. She has been seen in various shows such as Mystery Sideshow: History's Mysteries Revealed, Company, Oedipus Rex, The Bluest Eye, and Working. She was a 2009-2010 intern with The Shakespeare Theatre in Washington, DC and has served on the production team for various shows throughout DC and the Metropolitan Area. Thanks be to God.

JACK WHITELAW (Boy Scrooge, Ignorance, Cratchit Boy/Pip) is 11 years old and lives in Norfolk, Virginia. He goes to Ghent Montessori School and has been singing in the Virginia Children’s Chorus since 2006. He has performed in several plays including Missoula Children’s Theater’s production Wiz of the West, Christopher Durang’s Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All and most recently The Secret Garden with The Little Theater of Virginia Beach. When he’s not on stage, he spends his time building Legos or training at Norfolk Karate Academy. He wants to be an environmental engineer when he grows up.

JOHN WHITELAW (Man 1, Street Caroler, Instrumentalist) usually works as an engineer, but is delighted to be on stage with the VSC in this year’s A Christmas Carol. He has performed with US Army Europe’s Community Theater program as the Baker in Into The Woods, Ed in You Can’t Take It With You, and Louis in Dan LaMorte’s Viva Las Wedding.

COLIN WILSON (Tiny Tim, Modern Child) is 7 years old and is excited to be making his theatrical debut at VSC! He has 12 film and television credits and was recently seen as Billy on Wicked Attraction for Discovery ID. He can be seen in various national commercials including HSUSA, Troy University and Disney. Colin has also directed two award-winning short films.

MORGAN WILSON (Fan, Want, Cratchit Girl, Mercy) is 10 years old and she is delighted to join VSC for this production! Among Morgan’s theatrical credits are Mary Lennox in The Secret Garden, Marta in The Sound of Music, as well as recent roles in Mary Anning and Sweeney Todd. She can be seen next as Pamela on The Bureau on Discovery ID. Morgan also serves as an historical actor for Colonial Williamsburg.
