Virginia Stage Company’s Ensemble provides opportunities for early career actor/creators to take ownership of their craft in a regional theatre setting. The individuals that make up the Ensemble are recruited to perform in a variety of venues and assist in the creation of programs for the community of Hampton Roads. All Ensemble members must have at least an undergraduate degree in theatre or a related field of study, must exhibit strong acting, teaching, and entrepreneurial skills, and must have a desire to hone their craft in a professional setting. Salary: Stipend plus housing and utilities.
Additional Benefits: Equity Membership Candidacy points for weeks in mainstage productions. Master classes with professional guest directors and actors as available, opportunities to form connections and relationships with professional theater artists from across the country, day-to-day exposure to the workings of a professional regional theater, opportunities for solo creation as appropriate.
Duties Include: Touring local schools with the elementary theatre tour, creating and performing community and academic based theatre pieces, performing in mainstage productions as appropriate, teaching workshops, leading discussion, developing and workshoping new work, and creating outreach programs within the Hampton Roads community. All ensemble members will participate in at least one mainstage show.
