Scene Study for Actors

Instructor - Ailish Riggs

Ailish holds a B.A. in Performing Arts from the University of San Francisco and an MFA in Acting from the National Theatre Conservatory. Ailish most recently appeared as Ms. Hannigan in Virginia Musical Theatre’s production of Annie. As member of the Denver Center Theater Company, she appeared in productions of You Can’t Take It With You, Pride and Prejudice, The Laramie Project and Harvey, and understudied over ten roles in her residency with the company. She has also appeared regionally in productions of The Grapes of Wrath, The Admirable Crichton, Romeo and Juliet, Taming of the Shrew, Playboy of the Western World, Top Girls and Execution of Justice. She has directed productions of Eleemosynary, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown and Meet Mark Twain. Ailish is an Adjunct Faculty at Old Dominion University where she teaches Acting and Aerial Movement. She is a member of Actor’s Equity Association and Voice and Speech Trainers Association.

Scene Study for Young Actors

Instructor - Christa Jones

Christa Jones received her B.A. in Speech Communications and Theatre Arts from Old Dominion University and is a veteran teacher of Virginia Beach City Public Schools.  Ms. Jones was selected as a member of the city-wide theater curriculum team where she approached her writing with a focus and passion to connect theater skills to real-life skills.  She was named Teacher of the Year at Ocean Lakes High School where she served as Fine Arts Department Chair and led her students in several award winning productions at the district, region, and state levels.  She has led workshops at the Inspiration Academy for the Performing Arts, Virginia Theatre Association and Virginia Thespian Conferences, as well as at Virginia Stage Company.  Ms. Jones is an active member of the theater community and has appeared on stage in several local productions including Wait Until Dark, The Importance of Being Earnest, Mindgame, Beyond Therapy, You Can’t Take It With You, Anna in the Tropics, and is currently in rehearsal for Death and the Maiden.
