Meet Your Workshop Facilitators

KATIE GOAN is the Assistant Director of Development at Virginia Stage Company and has worked in professional
theatre for over 20 years. Katie received her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from St. Edward’s University in Austin,
TX, and has worked in New York, Los Angeles and cities all over the country teaching professionals how to tap
into their creative skills and apply them to the workplace. She has facilitated corporate training workshops for
corporations such as Google, JPMorgan Chase, Yahoo, Cover Girl, Better Homes and Gardens, New York University
and YMCA. Katie has worked in theatre administration for such organizations as The Peoples Improv Theater
(The PIT), where she was Managing Director for six years, Roundabout Theatre Company, and Ars Nova Theater,
as well as play festivals around the country. She is the playwright and co-creator of Kidnapped By Craigslist, a
unique comedic play that explores the anonymity and volatility of the online community. Kidnapped By Craigslist
has achieved tremendous success with critically acclaimed, sold-out productions in New York, Los Angeles, Austin,
and Phoenix.

RYAN CLEMENS is the Director of Theatre Education at the Virginia Stage Company where he leads a variety of
creative classes and workshops. Originally from Wyoming, Clemens began his career by creating and managing
a travelling Wild West show. Clemens holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Western Washington University
and a Masters of Fine Arts in Acting and Directing from Regent University. He has worked professionally as an
actor, director, playwright, improvisational comedy performer, Mark Twain impersonator and teacher. In addition
to his work in theatre, Clemens has worked on creative projects with companies such as Stihl, Little Joe’s
Automotive, the US Army and Archie Comics.
