Emerging Artists Ensemble
The Emerging Artists Ensemble is the resident non-Equity acting company of Virginia Stage Company created to provide opportunities for early career actors to gain valuable experience and skills in a regional theatre setting. The individuals that make up the Ensemble come from all over the country to perform in a variety of venues and programs for the community of Hampton Roads. All Ensemble members must have at least an undergraduate degree in theatre or a related field of study and must exhibit strong acting skills and a desire to share and improve their craft. Much of the Ensemble’s focus is on developing new work and/or building community awareness through adult outreach performances and educational touring productions. Duties Include: Performing in a touring production at local schools and throughout the community, performing in the mainstage production of A Christmas Carol, teaching workshops throughout the Hampton Roads area, developing and workshoping new work, and performing in additional mainstage productions if cast. Salary: $175.00 per week plus housing and utilities. Additional Benefits: Equity Membership Candidacy points for weeks in mainstage productions. Ensemble will attend master classes held with professional guest directors and actors, form connections and relationships with professional theater artists from across the country and gain intimate knowledge of the workings of a professional regional theater.
